According to Yonhap News on May 3, the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station has reportedly imposed a travel ban on a Japanese trainee, referred to as A, on suspicion of fraud.
A was preparing to debut in a six-member boy group but abruptly cut off contact in December last year, leaving only a message stating that “trust had been broken.” The group later debuted as a five-member act without A. It was subsequently revealed that A had already signed a “double contract” with another agency, leading the original company to take legal action.
The agency claimed, “It has been confirmed that A also suddenly cut off contact and disappeared from a previously contracted company. After signing contracts with Korean agencies and receiving substantial investment, A repeatedly fled to Japan right before starting activities.” Based on these claims, the company filed a fraud complaint against the trainee.
The agency further stated that it had spent approximately 57.43 million KRW over four months to prepare A for debut, covering training costs, song and choreography production, recording, music video filming, meals, and accommodation.
Police believe that A is currently still in South Korea and are working to determine their whereabouts.
