On August 30, Nishii shared a post on his personal account titled “An Announcement.” He wrote, “I have decided to put an end to my entertainment activities as of August 31, 2026.”
Explaining his decision, he said, “The biggest reason is that, when I think about valuing myself and the life ahead of me, I want to grow older while seeing a wider variety of scenery.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the fans and industry professionals who had recognized and supported him since the beginning of his career. Looking back on his time in the industry, Nishii said, “I was able to see so many wonderful sights, and it was an incredibly happy 18 years.”
He also revealed his affection for the projects he had appeared in. Nishii said, “The works I was involved in are not going to disappear, so I would be happy if you watch them again whenever they come to mind.” He added, “Although I will be living in a different environment from now on, I myself will not change, so I hope we can continue to get along just as we have.”
Nishii further announced, “From now on, I plan to post only completely personal content on this account,” adding that he would switch the account to private so that only his current followers could view his posts.
Born in 1995, Nishii entered the entertainment industry in 2008 after winning the Semi-Grand Prix at the D-BOYS audition. He made his film debut in 2010 as Shuya Watanabe in director Tetsuya Nakashima’s movie Confessions. He subsequently appeared in various productions, including Lesson of the Evil, Suzuki Sensei, and Higanjima.
After working across various fields, including acting, voice acting, and stage performances, for 18 years, Nishii has chosen a new path to reflect on his life. Japanese fans have responded with both support and sadness as he begins this new chapter.
