Epik High member Tablo proudly spoke about intellectual charm of his 16-year-old daughter, Haru.
On September 15th, a video titled “John Park is like Tukutz but much SMARTER” was released on the YouTube channel Hey Tablo. In the video, Tablo held a balance game on various topics with guest singer John Park.
During the balance game, while debating between “having John Park’s singing voice” or “having Tom Hiddleston’s voice,” Tablo asked the producers, “If I choose Tom Hiddleston’s voice, would I also get the British accent?” and then expressed his affection for the British accent, saying, “If it’s that accent, I’d do anything.”
He said, “What do you think about British people having an unfair advantage? You don’t usually notice it, but when you see British people in the US, don’t they sound very intellectual?” He added, “It’s just the way they talk, but I think, ‘So sexy,’ or, ‘They must be from Cambridge or Oxford.’”
When the conversation turned to parenting, John Park, who has a daughter Avery turning three next month, made everyone laugh by saying, “She talks, but I wouldn’t exactly call it a conversation.”
In response, Tablo said, “My daughter is 16. We have proper conversations. But most of the time, she actually sounds more intellectual than me,” sharing about his daily life with Haru.
In particular, Tablo pointed out the unique trends among today’s teenagers, including his daughter. He praised his daughter’s fluent British pronunciation, saying, “It’s strange, but kids that age speak with a British accent even though they’ve never been to London or the UK. When talking with friends on the phone, and they do it really well.”
He then analyzed this trend, making everyone burst out laughing, saying, “I think it started on the US West Coast. Kids suddenly began speaking with a British accent. I guess those kids noticed too that speaking that way makes you sound 1.5 times smarter.”
Tablo married actress Kang Hye Jung in 2009 and has a daughter named Haru. Haru is currently preparing to enter university in the United States.
