On November 6, Choi Woo Sik’s agency, Fable Company, released an official statement through its social media accounts regarding false claims that have recently been circulating online.
“We would like to address the false information about actor Choi Woo Sik that has recently been spreading, particularly on Threads,” the agency began.
It continued, “Indiscriminately posting untrue information or creating and spreading rumors by maliciously distorting and exaggerating facts constitutes an obvious illegal act that seriously infringes upon the actor’s reputation and rights.”
The agency emphasized that it intends to hold people accountable not only for creating or spreading false information but also for reproducing and further circulating such claims. “We are continuously monitoring the relevant posts and the channels through which they are being disseminated, while collecting evidence. We plan to take legal action against anyone who creates or spreads false information, or reproduces and amplifies it,” the agency warned.
The agency also stated that it would apply the same principles to malicious posts targeting other actors under its management, not just Choi Woo Sik. “We will respond in the same manner to the spread of false information, malicious attacks, and defamation targeting not only Choi Woo Sik but also all actors represented by our company,” it said.
It added, “We ask the public to refrain from indiscriminately spreading false information. We will continue working to protect the rights and interests of our artists.”
The controversy began after a post accusing Choi Woo Sik of mistreating airline staff was recently uploaded to Threads. A user who identified themselves as a flight attendant claimed to have had an unpleasant experience while attending to the actor.

The user alleged, “I didn’t know it was Choi Woo Sik. I greeted him and approached him to take his menu order, but he got annoyed and said to the manager next to him, ‘Hey, what are you doing? They’re talking to me.’ I thought, ‘What kind of person behaves like that?’ Then I realized it was Choi Woo Sik.”
However, the credibility of the account was quickly questioned online. One user pointed out, “Choi Woo Sik is a Korean-Canadian actor. There would be no reason for his name to be written as Choi Woo Sik,” expressing doubts about the allegation’s authenticity. The agency has since classified the claims as false and announced its intention to pursue legal action. The incident has also prompted calls for caution against spreading unverified, one-sided allegations and rumors that could unfairly damage an individual’s reputation.
