BLACKPINK’s Jennie has sparked controversy after the teaser for her upcoming album Fallen Angel was accused of bearing similarities to works by Ariana Grande and Cherie Amour.
Jennie shared the poster for her new album Fallen Angel and details about the pre-order on August 26. The artwork quickly drew attention for its dreamy, ethereal aesthetic, but it also sparked debate among fans and netizens online.
Some social media users pointed out similarities between the poster’s composition, color palette, and character imagery and the visuals associated with Ariana Grande’s song “supernatural.” Others compared Jennie’s album artwork to “Spiritual Ascension,” a work by the band Cherie Amour.
The comparisons have led to criticism of Jennie, with some questioning the originality behind the visual concept for Fallen Angel. However, the allegations currently stem from online comparisons and reactions, rather than any confirmed finding of plagiarism.
The controversy comes as Jennie continues to maintain a busy schedule in 2026. Following the success of her solo album Ruby, the BLACKPINK member has continued expanding her individual career with performances at major music festivals and the release of new songs, including “Less Than a Lover,” “Lock It Down,” and “Heaven.” Several of these tracks are set to appear on Fallen Angel.
Jennie has also been featured on the remix of Tame Impala’s “Dracula.” The song achieved strong results on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 5 before moving to No. 8, further highlighting Jennie’s growing presence in the international music market.
Alongside her solo activities, Jennie also reunited with BLACKPINK for the group’s EP Deadline this year. The group recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking another major milestone for the four members.
Jennie’s Fallen Angel EP is scheduled for release on August 28, featuring three tracks: “Fallen Angel,” “Heaven,” and “Less Than a Lover.” The music video for the title track is also scheduled to premiere on the same day.
