ATEEZ leader Hongjoong has been diagnosed with a rib fracture and may have limited stage participation during the group’s upcoming performances, KQ Entertainment announced on August 13.
The agency said Hongjoong visited a hospital after experiencing a cough. Medical tests later showed that he had a fractured rib, and doctors advised him to get enough rest. Despite the medical advice, Hongjoong wants to take part in ATEEZ’s previously scheduled activities.
KQ Entertainment said it respects his decision and will allow him to continue working only as much as his condition permits. This means his role on stage may change from one performance to another. According to Soompi, the agency specifically pointed to the “Istanbul Festivali” on August 14, saying Hongjoong’s participation could be adjusted based on how he is feeling.
“Please understand that the extent of Hongjoong’s participation on stage may be adjusted depending on his physical condition,” KQ Entertainment said.
The agency also stressed that Hongjoong’s health will remain the main concern while he continues his schedule. It said his condition will be watched closely and future plans may be changed if needed to give him enough time to recover.
ATEEZ Adjusts Hongjoong’s Schedule
KQ Entertainment had recommended that Hongjoong rest, but the singer expressed his wish to keep his promises to fans and take part in scheduled events.
The agency said activities would move forward only within limits that do not place too much strain on him.
The update comes as ATEEZ continues activities following the release of its 14th mini album, “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5.” The album arrived on June 26 and features “BAD” as its title track, ChosunBiz reported.
Hongjoong has remained a key part of ATEEZ’s performances and activities, making the health update especially important for fans watching the group’s upcoming schedule. While he plans to continue working when possible, his stage time may be reduced to support his recovery.
For now, KQ Entertainment has not announced a full break from Hongjoong’s activities. Instead, the agency said it will make flexible changes based on his physical condition and continue to put his safety first.
“We will continue to closely monitor Hongjoong’s condition and make flexible adjustments to his upcoming schedule as needed,” the agency said, adding that his health and safety would remain the top priority.
The agency also apologized for the sudden news and asked fans for their understanding.
