Just one day after its release, on November 4, The Remarried Empress topped the Disney+ TV show charts in 12 countries, generating considerable buzz. The series premiered its first four episodes on November 3, out of a total of 10. It follows Navier (Shin Min Ah), the Empress of the Eastern Empire, who is informed by Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon) that he wants a divorce because he has fallen for Rashta (Lee Se Young), a runaway slave. Rather than simply accepting his decision, Navier demands approval to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Kingdom.
With its lavish imperial world set in a fictional era and setting rarely seen in conventional Korean dramas, The Remarried Empress is performing well, drawing attention to other upcoming productions with a similar aesthetic.

Suzy to Play Empress Latil in a Work With More Than 50 Million Cumulative Downloads
Another highly anticipated project is Men of the Harem, which Netflix is preparing to release in 2027. The drama is based on the web novel of the same name, written by Alphatart and exclusively serialized on Naver Series. It is a palace romance fantasy about Latil (Suzy), the Empress of the Tarium Empire, who takes male concubines in order to protect her position on the throne.
The story originated from an unconventional premise: If it was perfectly acceptable for male emperors to have multiple concubines, why should a female emperor be any different? This unusual dynamic, rarely explored in the romance fantasy genre, attracted enthusiastic responses from readers from the very beginning. The original work has since surpassed 50 million cumulative downloads. In 2020, a promotional campaign featuring actors Ju Ji Hoon and Seo Ye Ji also generated considerable buzz, prompting fans to call for a television adaptation long before the drama was announced.
The project brings together director Lee Eung Bok, whose credits include Descendants of the Sun, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Mr. Sunshine, and Dear X, and screenwriter Hwang Jin Young, who wrote The Rebel and My Dearest. Suzy, widely known as the nation’s first love, will take on the leading role of Latil. The cast playing the male concubines includes Shin Seung Ho, Dex (Kim Jin Young), Lee Jong Won, Kim Dan, Yoo Jung Hoo, Jin Kyung, and Noh Min Woo.
