Actor Kim Soo Hyun will meet Kim Se Ui, the head of the Garoseuro Research Institute, in court.
According to the legal community on November 6th, the Seoul Central District Court’s 26th Criminal Division will summon Kim Soo Hyun as a witness to the trial of Kim Se Ui on charges including violations of the Information and Communications Network Act and the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, scheduled for the 11th. The witness questioning will be conducted privately.
Kim Se Ui has claimed that Kim Soo Hyun dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. Moreover, he alleged that the cause of her death was pressure from Kim Soo Hyun’s side regarding debt repayment.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference denying the allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim Se Ui. The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul determined that Kim Se Ui carried out these acts to gain public attention.
Ultimately, in June, Kim Se Ui was formally indicted and detained on charges including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violations of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, and the Stalking Punishment Act.
After Kim Se Ui’s detention, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist stated, “The past year for Kim Soo Hyun was devoted solely to keeping that promise. Finally, through the procedures prescribed by law and a thorough investigation, the truth was proven. We deeply thank everyone who believed in and waited for Kim Soo Hyun.”
Kim Soo Hyun has resumed activities. Kim Se Ui denies all charges and requested a jury trial, but the request was denied.
As a result, the court summoned Kim Soo Hyun as a witness in the defamation trial against Kim Se Ui, leading to the two facing each other in court.
