Big Ocean’s members had more than clothes to show during their appearance at New York Men’s Day. As they discussed their collection with Andy Yu at Mercedes-Benz Manhattan during New York Fashion Week, PJ, Chanyeon and Jiseok also demonstrated their individual name signs.
Chanyeon said his sign means “hi.” Jiseok explained that PJ’s combines the signs for the letters P and J, and the members said they had created their name signs themselves.
The exchange gave a personal dimension to a collection PJ described as rooted in the trio’s identity.
“We are inspired by ourselves for this collection,” he said. “The collection is about inclusivity. The concept is denim.”
Hands were central to his explanation. PJ pointed to the buttons on the garments and discussed the importance of hands for signing. Later, when asked for a message to fans, he explained that hand signs were reflected in those buttons and linked the detail to PADO.
“We love you PADO!” he said.
The members’ personal fashion preferences also helped shape the collaboration. Jiseok described his taste as dandy, favoring clean lines and sharp shirts. His answer emphasized a neat, structured approach to dressing.
PJ said every outfit needs “one thing that grips you.” Having that distinctive element, he explained, makes him feel more confident.
Chanyeon focused on the finishing details. He mentioned buttons and a belt, saying those features in the collection matched what he already likes.
Yu said the trio contributed through three days of work together in China. He wanted input that reflected the members’ own tastes and drew on music and cultural influences while developing the designs.
The September 10 presentation followed the September 9 release of “Love Sign.” As KpopStarz previously reported, the single’s hook references different sign languages, making signing part of the song’s central concept.
More U.S. appearances are approaching. Jiseok said the group’s tour begins September 13 in New York and spans 11 shows in nine cities, with Texas among the destinations. He also identified September 18 as a planned Philadelphia Fashion Week appearance.
Chanyeon shared his excitement about Philadelphia, while Jiseok was enthusiastic about their current stop.
“I love it, the energetic vibe, I love everything about NYC. I want to live here,” Jiseok said.
PJ thanked those who came to see the collection, explaining that its connection to the members made the occasion more meaningful. His message to PADO gave fans a detail to look for in the designs: hand signs that, he said, were meant for them.
