On September 4, the YouTube channel “Charles Entertainment” released a video titled “Kim Min Kyung & Go Ah Sung’s After-Party for City Women’s Shelter (feat. Academic Background Battle).”
During a conversation about educational backgrounds, Charles Entertainment recalled a memorable hate comment, saying, “There was one that really stuck with me. Someone wrote, ‘Provincial university class.’ So I replied in the comments, ‘I went to a junior college.’ I couldn’t even get into a provincial university,” she said with a laugh.
Kim Min Kyung said, “The hate comments that don’t hurt me are things like, ‘You’re fat’ or ‘You should get a nose job.’” She continued, “Those aren’t really the comments that bother me. The ones that stay with me for a long time are things like, ‘You must have been very busy lately. You look tired.’ Why do I hate hearing that?”
She went on to explain, “It’s true, but I hate that it shows. I tried my best not to let people see how tired I was, but it turns out it was showing anyway. I know that when people see me and say, ‘You’re so busy these days, aren’t you?’ it’s just a way of checking in or breaking the ice, but it still hits a little. I end up wondering, ‘Did I look too tired?’”
Go Ah Sung said, “I genuinely think hate comments mean people are paying attention. I think that’s part of being a star. I see it as a kind of measure.”
She continued, “Because I received so many hate comments in my 20s, and it was really difficult for me back then. I was under so much stress that I even wondered if I was making things too difficult for other people. But looking back, I think that was actually when I was more popular. It means I was getting that much attention. From a professional standpoint, that’s actually a good thing.”
Kim Min Kyung commented, “Because Ah Sung has spent so many years in a career where she constantly receives public reactions, you can tell she has become somewhat unfazed by it.” Go Ah Sung acknowledged this, saying, “I suppose that’s true to some extent.”
