One Piece Chapter 1191 has dramatically escalated the Elbaf battle, with Imu revealing a terrifying new form and Luffy finally joining forces with Loki and Hajrudin.
The latest chapter continues the intense confrontation following Scopper Gaban’s sacrifice in Chapter 1190. While Gaban survives despite losing an arm, Imu becomes an even greater threat—and the appearance of Imu’s monstrous transformation has raised fresh questions about the mysterious ruler’s Devil Fruit.
Imu Reveals a Terrifying New Form
One of the biggest moments in One Piece Chapter 1191 is Imu’s transformation. Despite Gaban’s devastating attack, Imu remains standing. The mysterious figure also recognizes Gaban from the God Valley era and admits that he should have killed him alongside Rocks D. Xebec had he known how powerful Gaban would become.
Imu then reveals a much more monstrous appearance. The transformed body is significantly larger and features massive horns and black arms, while an overwhelming aura begins to affect the surrounding area. The transformation immediately raises questions about the true nature of Imu’s powers.
The chapter does not officially identify Imu’s Devil Fruit, so any connection to a Mythical Zoan remains a theory. Nevertheless, several visual elements make the possibility particularly interesting.

Gaban Survives and Explains Why He Protected Luffy
Another important development is the survival of Scopper Gaban. Although Gaban lost his left arm during his confrontation with Imu, he remains conscious and capable of fighting.
Gaban explains that he stepped between Imu and Luffy because he wanted to protect Elbaf. His decision gives even greater weight to the events of Chapter 1190. Gaban understood the enormous danger posed by Imu but still willingly placed himself in harm’s way.

Hajrudin Refuses to Abandon the Battle

However, Imu’s overwhelming power begins affecting Hajrudin almost immediately. Gaban warns him that he cannot defeat Imu and tells him to leave. Hajrudin refuses. His reasoning reflects the warrior spirit of Elbaf: an Elbaf warrior cannot simply abandon a battle. He also makes it clear that even if he falls, another warrior can continue the fight. That warrior is Loki.
Loki Returns to the Battlefield
Loki eventually makes his return to the battlefield, giving Luffy and the other giants a major boost. The arrival of Loki is particularly significant because his relationship with Elbaf and his complicated history have made him one of the central figures of the arc.
With Loki now fighting alongside Hajrudin and Luffy, the battle against Imu takes on an entirely new scale.
While the battle unfolds, Luffy is given time to recover. As his strength gradually returns, he prepares to re-enter the fight. Luffy ultimately stands alongside Loki and Hajrudin, bringing together three major warriors from different backgrounds. The trio then launches Gokoku Sovereignty toward Imu.
The ending creates one of the most exciting team-ups of the Elbaf Arc so far: Luffy, the protagonist of the series; Loki, one of Elbaf’s most important figures; and Hajrudin, one of the kingdom’s prominent giant warriors, all attacking Imu together.
Robin and Chopper Discover Something Important
The chapter also briefly shifts away from the main battle to the library. Robin, Chopper and the others confirm that all of the books have been successfully saved.
Biblo then appears and seems to have something important to tell Chopper. The chapter does not reveal what Biblo wants to say, leaving another mystery for the next installment.
Given the importance of Elbaf’s knowledge and history, this subplot could eventually connect to some of the arc’s larger revelations.
What Does One Piece Chapter 1191 Mean for the Elbaf Battle?
Chapter 1191 appears to be setting up a major confrontation. Imu has revealed an even more frightening form, while Luffy has gained two powerful allies in Loki and Hajrudin. At the same time, Gaban remains alive and could potentially continue contributing to the fight despite his devastating injury.
The biggest unanswered question is still what exactly Imu is. If Imu does possess a Mythical Zoan, the creature represented by the transformation could provide major clues about the character’s origins and powers. However, the manga has yet to officially confirm this.
For now, the safest conclusion is that Imu’s new form strongly resembles a supernatural or mythical creature, but its exact nature remains unknown.
