Actor Jung Hae In, alongside Kang Ha Neul, Lee Chung Ah, Yoo Jae Myung, Kim Sun Young and Jang Won Young, has joined the star-studded voice cast of the animated film Agami, which is set to arrive in theaters this September.
Premiering on September 9, Agami, directed by Ahn Jae Hoon, tells the extraordinary story of Gon, the only child in a world where gills appear on those who are thrown into deep water. The film follows Gon and the people who become the entire world to him. It is based on the novel of the same name by writer Koo Byung Mo.
The film’s voice cast is attracting attention for being just as impressive as that of a live-action production. Jung Hae In voices Gon, a fish-like human who develops gills in order to breathe again after reaching the end of his life. Kang Ha Neul voices Kang Ha, a being who should not exist in this world, yet becomes Gon’s family, friend and ultimately the person who fills his entire world.
Lee Chung Ah takes on the role of Haeryu, a woman who forms a deep connection with Gon through a brief encounter. Yoo Jae Myung voices the Old Man who discovers Gon and takes him in, helping him survive in the human world. Musical actress Kim Sun Young plays I Nyeong, whose actions set in motion an event that forces Gon to confront an entirely new life.
The star-studded lineup also includes Jang Won Young, alongside Kwon Hae Hyo, Jung Woong In, Jo Han Chul, Park Ji Yeon and Hwang Sang Kyung. With actors and singers coming together for the project, attention is focused on how each performer will bring a distinct personality and emotional color to their respective character.
The first poster released alongside the announcement features Gon against a mysterious palette and delicately detailed animation. The phrase “I’m searching for my world” adds to the curiosity surrounding Gon, the only person of his kind, and his relationships with Kang Ha, the Old Man, Haeryu and I Nyeong. The poster is a special-edition visual created separately by director Ahn Jae Hoon to mark the film’s release.
Original novelist Koo Byung Mo has also expressed excitement about seeing Agami reborn as an animated film. The author thanked the production team for bringing the characters from the novel to the screen through soft colors and beautiful artwork, while expressing hope that audiences will experience a unique world where fantasy and reality blend together.
