Actress Kim Ji-won has donated 100 million KRW, or about $75,000, to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital to help children with serious illnesses and support families struggling with medical costs.
Kim’s agency, HighZium Studio, confirmed the donation on August 10. The money will be used to help cover treatment costs for low-income patients and improve the hospital environment for children receiving care.
The donation is expected to help children with severe, rare, and hard-to-treat diseases who travel to the hospital from different parts of South Korea. It will also support families who face high medical bills as their children need repeated treatments or surgeries.
Children with serious rare diseases, childhood cancer, and leukemia may need long-term care. By helping with medical costs, Kim’s donation can ease some of the financial pressure on their families while also helping create a safer and more comfortable place for young patients.
Kim explained that her decision was influenced by her work on the upcoming drama “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia.”
According to SportsKhan, while filming the medical drama, she learned more about the challenges faced by doctors and children dealing with illness.
“While filming the drama ‘Doctor X,’ I came into close contact with the stories of medical staff working hard and of sick children, which led me to decide on this donation,” Kim said.

She also shared her support for the people involved in the hospital’s work, saying she wanted to thank medical workers, young patients, and their families for continuing to do their best.
Seoul National University Children’s Hospital Director Chae Jong-hee expressed gratitude for Kim’s contribution. He said the hospital would use the funds to support families facing medical expenses and provide children with a safer, more child-friendly space during treatment.
Kim’s donation adds to her career as an actress, which began in 2010 with a commercial for “Lollipop.” She later became known for roles in popular dramas such as “Descendants of the Sun,” “My Liberation Notes,” and “Queen of Tears.”
She is now preparing for the release of “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia,” in which she plays Gye Soo Jung, a talented surgeon known as the “mad dog” of the operating room, AllKPop reported. The medical noir drama is scheduled to premiere in October.
