According to reports confirmed on May 12, Choi Ji Woo’s father, the late Choi Woon Yong, passed away on May 11.
The news has drawn even more sympathy as Choi Ji Woo had recently shared updates through her social media about traveling to Japan with her mother.
The funeral altar for the deceased has been set up in a special room at the funeral hall of Haeundae Paik Hospital in Haeundae-gu, Busan.
Choi Ji Woo was listed among the chief mourners alongside her mother, older brother, husband, and daughter.
The funeral procession is scheduled to take place at 6 AM on May 14. The deceased, who reportedly served in the military during his lifetime, will be laid to rest at Daejeon National Cemetery after passing through Yeongnak Park.
Meanwhile, Choi Ji Woo married her husband, who is nine years younger than her, in 2018 and gave birth to their daughter in May 2020.
Last October, Choi Ji Woo stepped down from her role as an MC on KBS2’s variety program The Return of Superman. She also returned to the big screen earlier this year through the film Sugar, which premiered in January.
