After more than eight years away, Dragon Ball Super is preparing for a major comeback that could be bigger than ever. However, before the main story continues with a new adventure following the Tournament of Power Saga, Toei Animation will release a remake project titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
As the title suggests, the anime will focus on the arrival of the God of Destruction Beerus and his intense battle against Earth’s warriors. This is also the first arc of the Dragon Ball Super manga, making the project even more anticipated among fans.

3. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Will Be a TV Series
The anime is officially scheduled to premiere on October 11 this year as part of the Fall 2026 anime lineup. The project has also been confirmed for international release, although its specific streaming platform has yet to be announced.
With new Dragon Ball content frequently becoming available on Crunchyroll, there is a strong possibility that the remake will also be released on the platform.
With the Fall 2026 anime season fast approaching, Crunchyroll is expected to announce its full release schedule later this month. Besides Crunchyroll, the anime could potentially also appear on Netflix, although it may only be available in certain Asian markets.
At present, the episode release schedule and the total number of seasons planned for the anime have not been revealed.
2. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Will Fix Major Problems From the Original Anime
Goku’s first battle against Beerus was originally introduced in a Dragon Ball Z movie before being adapted again for the Dragon Ball Super television series.
However, the original anime was not always completely faithful to the manga during its early arcs. This remake therefore aims to follow the original story created by Akira Toriyama more closely while significantly improving its visual quality.
Based on the latest trailer, the anime features more vibrant and eye-catching colors, along with improved choreography and presentation for its battle sequences.
The project is not simply upgrading the animation from scenes that have already been released. Instead, the entire story will reportedly be rebuilt with better pacing. The first footage has received positive reactions from fans, although some viewers have still questioned whether another remake is necessary.
Nevertheless, the project is currently expected to become a major success, even though its official premiere is still about a month away.
1. The New Dragon Ball Super Remake Won’t End With the Battle Against Beerus
Although the title only mentions Beerus, the trailer has confirmed that the project will not focus solely on the Battle of Gods arc. The anime will also cover the Resurrection F and Universe 6 arcs during its run.
The appearance of Frieza, which was already teased in an earlier preview, also raises the possibility that Dragon Ball Super could receive additional remake projects in the future.
The trailer not only confirms that the story will continue beyond the battle with Beerus but also shows that all of these arcs will be adapted as part of the same remake project.
Battle of Gods is merely the starting point of the story, introducing a new threat to Earth. Following the battle with Beerus, Frieza returns to the planet seeking revenge for his defeat years earlier.
Meanwhile, the Universe 6 Saga introduces the concept of multiple universes and reveals that each universe has counterparts that closely resemble those in another universe.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation on whether the remake project will continue adapting the arcs that follow the Universe 6 Saga.
