YUNA of ITZY has long been recognized as one of the top visuals of K-pop’s fourth generation. Her radiant beauty and model-like proportions have repeatedly earned her nominations for “The Most Beautiful Faces in the World.” With such standout visuals and high expectations surrounding her solo debut, many anticipated a breakthrough moment. However, her achievements so far have fallen short of expectations.
Underwhelming performance leaves fans disappointed

In reality, global beauty recognition alone has not been enough to propel her through a lackluster promotional cycle. The idol born in 2003 is currently facing a string of discouraging numbers.
On March 23, YUNA officially made her solo debut with her first mini album Ice Cream, featuring a title track of the same name. However, first-week album sales recorded a surprisingly modest figure. Despite her visuals constantly going viral across social media platforms, she has set an unfortunate record.

According to statistics, she has become the female solo artist with the lowest first-week album sales in the entire history of JYP Entertainment. With only 101,000 copies sold in the first week, YUNA ranks last among female soloists under the company, even trailing behind her fellow ITZY member YEJI. This clearly reflects that purchasing power within the fandom does not necessarily correlate with visual popularity.
Beyond physical sales, the digital performance of Ice Cream has also been equally bleak. Initially, the song showed some promising signs, notably reaching No.1 on Korea’s Bugs Chart and maintaining the position for several consecutive hours. This was seen as a strong stepping stone for further success across streaming platforms. Unfortunately, this momentum did not last long. Just two weeks after release, YUNA’s Ice Cream completely disappeared from all major Korean music charts.

The rapid decline on digital platforms largely stems from the song’s safe structure. While Ice Cream offers a bright and easy-listening melody, it lacks a standout climax or a catchy hook strong enough to spark viral trends. This limitation prevented the track from gaining traction on short-form video platforms.
Timing also worked against YUNA. Her solo debut coincided directly with the comeback of global powerhouse BTS. Facing overwhelming competition in digital strength, views, and fan voting power, YUNA inevitably fell behind. As a result, she failed to secure any wins on weekly music shows, ending her solo promotions without a single trophy.
Top-tier visuals and talent but still struggling
Since debuting with ITZY in 2019, YUNA quickly captured public attention thanks to her standout appearance. During their peak era, she and her groupmates broke numerous records with hits like Dalla Dalla, WANNABE, and ICY.

To this day, ITZY’s youngest member has never lost her appeal in terms of visuals. She consistently goes viral across social media thanks to her exceptional body proportions. Her tiny waist and perfectly curved hips have even positioned her as a new beauty standard for Gen 4 idols. This recognition was further solidified when she was nominated for “The Most Beautiful Faces in the World 2026.”
However, following their early success, ITZY and YUNA individually have struggled for several years as their music releases steadily declined in performance. The group has lagged on charts and gradually lost its leading position to competitors of the same generation.

Recently, ITZY’s track That’s A No No unexpectedly went viral again. Many hoped this renewed attention would serve as a strong launchpad for YUNA’s solo debut.
However, even the massive media buzz combined with her personal fame was not enough to deliver the expected results. The outcome: underwhelming numbers across both album sales and digital charts. YUNA’s solo effort with Ice Cream ultimately concluded with disappointing metrics, leaving many fans disheartened.

Despite the setback, there is still hope on the horizon. JYP Entertainment has officially confirmed that ITZY will make a full-group comeback this May.
Fans are now eagerly watching to see whether this return will help the group regain their former glory and reclaim their position in the competitive K-pop landscape.
