Netflix’s critically acclaimed series BEEF is officially returning with Season 2, and the newly revealed cast lineup has already ignited massive excitement. On January 21 (local time), Netflix announced via its global fan event platform Tudum that BEEF Season 2 will premiere worldwide on April 16. Once again, Korean-American creator Lee Sung Jin returns as showrunner, leading both the creative vision and production after the immense success of Season 1.
Season 2 shifts its setting to an elite, upper-class country club, where a Gen Z couple becomes entangled in the explosive marital conflict of their millennial boss and his wife. What begins as an uncomfortable witness to an argument soon spirals into a deeper confrontation with power, class, and suppressed rage, expanding the emotional scope of the series while maintaining its signature tension.

Veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung, 78, takes on the role of Chairwoman Park, the powerful chairwoman of the luxury country club, while Song Kang Ho, 59, stars as her second husband, Dr Kim. Despite their 19-year age difference, the two portray a married couple whose relationship adds another layer of complexity and gravitas to the story. Their casting alone has fueled expectations of award-worthy performances. Joining them are Hollywood heavyweights Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Charles Melton, further elevating the scale and global appeal of the new season.
Director Lee Sung Jin explained that Season 2 explores a different shade of anger compared to its predecessor. “This time, we wanted the conflict to feel more passively aggressive,” he said, emphasizing the quiet, internalized rage often experienced in professional environments rather than overt explosions of emotion.

The original BEEF series was a massive critical triumph, sweeping major awards including the Primetime Emmy Awards. It won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, along with directing, writing, acting, casting, costume, and editing honors taking home eight trophies from 11 nominations. With that legacy behind it, Season 2 faces high expectations but also strong confidence from both critics and fans.
