TXT’s Yeonjun has become the center of intense discussion among fans after a message he posted on Weverse DMs was perceived as overly intimate and directed at a single individual.
The post, which appeared harmless at first glance, quickly spiraled into controversy as fans debated whether the idol had crossed a boundary.

Yeonjun’s message was intended for one specific fan he met at a fansign. In the DM, he wrote: “Right, there was a cutie at the fansign who asked me to wish them a happy birthday on the 29th, but due to circumstances, I wasn’t able to congratulate them. It’s late, but happy birthday, cutie! I love you ❤️”
The affectionate tone including terms like “cutie” and “I love you” immediately raised eyebrows. Fans argued that Weverse DMs, despite being private messages, function as a shared platform where all subscribers can see the same content.

Because of this, many felt the message should have been appropriate for everyone not personalized for a single fansign attendee.
Some longtime fans expressed shock and frustration, saying the message broke the subtle professional distance idols typically maintain.
Comments included:
- It’s shocking even in English. ‘Happy birthday cutie’? I wouldn’t even say that to my best friend.
- I miss the Yeonjun who kept a distance. The one who didn’t repost fan posts or wish individual fans happy birthday.
- I spend money for this subscription, not to watch him flirt with fans who go to fansigns.
- DMs are like a group chat. Why mention one person’s birthday? Why involve the rest of us?”
The criticism deepened as fans expressed feeling embarrassed and disrespected, as though they were unwilling participants in a private interaction.

A user wrote: “How did I become a part of oppa’s game? Suddenly wishing someone else a happy birthday in DMs? Don’t tell me she spent money I also go to fansigns. Feeding everyone garbage just for one person is disgusting.”
The sentiment spread quickly, with many agreeing that personal messages should not be shared through a platform meant equally for all subscribers.
As the backlash grows, Yeonjun has not yet responded to the controversy. Fans now wait to see whether he will address the issue or adjust how he uses Weverse DMs moving forward.
