On April 1, Soobin shared a vlog on TXT’s YouTube channel documenting his trip to Cebu in the Philippines. In the video, he took a taxi from the airport to his accommodation.
According to the footage, the expected fare he had checked in advance was around 300 pesos (approximately 7,500 KRW). However, the driver initially demanded 500 pesos and later raised the price to 1,000 pesos during the ride. After a dispute, the two eventually agreed on 500 pesos, but Soobin expressed dissatisfaction, noting that the fare was still excessive.
As the video gained attention and was picked up by local media, the issue quickly escalated. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), under the Philippine Department of Transportation, launched an official investigation into the incident.

Authorities ordered the driver involved to surrender his license and license plates, and imposed a 30-day suspension from operating.
The agency cited the driver’s failure to use the meter and the act of overcharging as serious violations that could damage the country’s image. Reports also indicate that further penalties, including criminal charges and possible vehicle confiscation, are being considered depending on the outcome of the investigation.
