On April 1, Hirosue shared a handwritten statement via her official website, confirming her comeback. She expressed sincere apologies for the concern caused by past incidents and revealed that she spent her break focusing on recovery and self-reflection. “I had time to regain my condition and face myself. Moving forward, I want to understand my limitations and find a healthier way to continue my work,” she stated.
Her hiatus began after a series of controversies in April last year, including a traffic accident on the Shin-Tomei Expressway, where she reportedly exceeded the speed limit and crashed into a large trailer. Following the accident, she was also involved in an incident at the hospital, where she injured a nurse and was arrested at the scene.

Subsequently, Hirosue was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and hyperthyroidism, leading her to suspend all activities. Legal proceedings concluded late last year, with prosecutors issuing a summary indictment related to traffic law violations, while charges related to the hospital incident were dropped. With these matters resolved, her return comes approximately four months after legal closure.
In addition to these issues, Hirosue had previously faced public backlash in 2023 following an extramarital affair with chef Toba Shusaku, which led to a public apology and her divorce shortly after.

Now preparing for a careful return, she emphasized that she will prioritize her health and approach future activities at a manageable pace. Her comeback marks a significant moment, as fans and the public watch closely to see how the former “national first love” rebuilds her career after a turbulent period.
