The connection between Zhao Liying and Sun Qian began with the drama Wild Bloom, but few expected that Sun Qian would later play a crucial role in “saving” both the project and her senior colleague.
According to QQ, Sun Qian has recently been gaining attention with the drama Love Story in the 1970s, where she stars alongside Chen Feiyu. Set in the 1970s–1980s, the series portrays a time when Chinese society faced many hardships.

Her character, Fei Ni, is a kind-hearted and hardworking young woman who carefully manages her life while dreaming of attending university. Despite her efforts, she is repeatedly denied opportunities by her superiors. She eventually chooses to marry Fang Muyang, a man known for helping victims during a storm, believing that her dedication will earn her recognition and a chance to study. Although their relationship begins with calculation, genuine feelings gradually develop. The drama’s simple, heartfelt storytelling and nostalgic atmosphere have resonated strongly with audiences.
Thanks to the success of Love Story in the 1970s, Sun Qian’s popularity has grown significantly. With her striking visuals, natural acting, and approachable image, she is increasingly favored for low-budget productions and realistic social dramas, directly competing with Guan Xiaotong.

Previously, Sun Qian also impressed viewers with her role as Gao Xinyi in Wild Bloom. She portrayed a proud yet free-spirited young woman who passionately pursues love. Her on-screen chemistry with Ou Hao was one of the highlights that drew audiences to the series.
However, QQ reports that Sun Qian’s contribution went beyond acting—she was instrumental in rescuing the production itself. Initially, Wang Yibo was set to appear in the drama, but fans of Zhao Liying opposed their collaboration following the underwhelming reception of Legend of Fei. Amid backlash and scheduling conflicts, Wang Yibo eventually withdrew from the project.
His departure reportedly led to some investors pulling out as well, leaving Wild Bloom facing financial difficulties. At that critical moment, Sun Qian stepped in and sought support from her family to help stabilize the production.

It is said that Sun Qian comes from a wealthy background her mother reportedly owns around 70 acupuncture and beauty clinics, while her uncle is a major figure in China’s coffee industry. Growing up in a well-off environment, she was able to leverage her family’s resources to support the drama during its crisis.
Following its release, Wild Bloom became a major success and one of the defining works in Zhao Liying’s career. The actress went on to win two of China’s most prestigious television awards the Feitian Award and the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress. Given this outcome, it is not an exaggeration to say that Sun Qian “rescued” both the project and Zhao Liying’s career at a crucial moment.
Born in 1997, Sun Qian graduated from the Central Academy of Drama. Standing at 1.72 meters tall with a striking presence, she has frequently gone viral on social media for her visuals. Over the years, she has appeared in various projects such as Meteor Garden, Take My Brother Away, and Waiting for You in the Future, steadily building her career in the entertainment industry.
