On the February 25 episode of Disney+’s “Battle of Fates” (Episode 8), six fortune tellers competed while offering one-on-one readings to celebrities. During the broadcast, fortune teller Seolhwa read Shindong’s fortune and made several striking observations.

Seolhwa asked Shindong if he had a grandmother who was a shaman, to which he replied, “My paternal grandmother.” She then cautiously stated, “When your grandmother passes away, there could be some danger. It feels like someone is trying to make you hold the ritual bells. It’s not about formally receiving a spirit, but your spiritual and ancestral energy is strong. That grandmother seems to be influencing you.”
Jun Hyun Moo added to the tension by sharing, “I can’t go into details, but Shindong once told a girl group, ‘Something feels off, be careful,’ and soon after, dating news broke. He does seem to have some spiritual intuition.” The remark surprised those on set.
Looking ahead at Shindong’s future, Seolhwa commented, “It’s true that you’re meant to live as a talented entertainer—dancing and singing—but that alone isn’t strong enough. Starting this year, a business path is opening for you.”

She further warned, “There’s a lot of money leaking out right now, so you need to be careful. For some reason, money keeps breaking apart.” However, she advised that he is better suited to being an owner rather than directly handling food preparation, suggesting that a food and beverage business could be highly successful for him. Shindong responded, “I think I’ll end up doing it since I’ve received good offers,” while a caption noted that he is preparing for an F&B business. Seolhwa predicted that after laying the groundwork, he would make a major move in 2028.
The reading also touched on health. Seolhwa asked about neurological or dementia-related issues in his family. Shindong replied, “My grandfather,” visibly surprised. She cautioned that while he may not have inherited the condition directly, there is still a connection, advising him not to overwork—though she noted his fate suggests little rest. Park Na Rae commented, “I know how much Shindong works. He’s very ambitious and probably never feels satisfied.”

During the broadcast, a caption revealed that in 2015, Shindong’s mother lost the family’s entire fortune due to a failed investment. Seolhwa remarked that some mothers feel pressured to save or lead the family financially, taking on a “head of household” role.
Shindong then candidly confessed, “To be honest, I’m not in contact with my parents right now. The reason is money.” He explained, “When I gave them living expenses, they would ask for a lump sum instead of monthly support. There were times when they took a large amount of money and lost it due to scams or failed investments.”
When Seolhwa asked whether he longed for a “second family,” Shindong admitted, “I think there is that loneliness.”
He also touched on marriage, revealing, “I’ve said many times on broadcasts that I want to get married, and there was even a time when I almost did.” He added, “Since I was young, I really wanted to experience marriage. I think I believed deep down that it was happiness.”
Shindong’s honest confession about family struggles, financial hardship, and his quiet longing for stability has resonated deeply with viewers, shedding light on the personal burdens he has carried behind his bright public image.
