On April 7, Ryeowook shared a message on his social media account, explaining the incident that took place during the previous day’s performance. He wrote, “I wanted to explain what happened to ELF (the fandom name).”
He recalled, “As soon as the accident happened, I felt overwhelming guilt toward the fans who were hurt. It felt like they were injured because of me.” He added, “I kept wondering if it was because I got too close to the fans, or if I could have held on tighter when they fell. The shock made my mind go blank for a moment.”
He continued, “I’m not someone who reacts quickly, so I felt foolish for freezing up in shock. If that moment looked bad, I sincerely apologize.” He also expressed gratitude, saying, “I’m thankful that ELF, who know me well, understood and explained the situation.”
Ryeowook also shared that he met with the injured fans at the hospital. “We talked a lot, and even while they were in pain, they worried about me and apologized, which I will never forget. I’m so grateful that their injuries were not severe,” he said.

He reflected on the emotional impact of the incident, noting that it was the first time in his 20-year career that he had witnessed such an accident firsthand. “It was very difficult for me. I’m thankful no one was seriously hurt, and I appreciate those who comforted and worried about me,” he added, expressing his hope that “everyone can stay safe and continue to meet for a long time without anyone getting hurt.”
The accident occurred on April 5 during Super Junior’s 20th anniversary concert at KSPO Dome in Seoul, when a safety fence on the side of the audience area collapsed, causing three attendees to fall. The injured individuals were taken to the hospital and diagnosed with sprains and bruises, requiring approximately two weeks of rest.
SM Entertainment also issued an official statement, saying, “We sincerely apologize to those who were affected and their families. We will provide full support for their treatment until they fully recover.”
