On January 27, an online press conference was held for Our Universe , attended by directors Lee Hyeon-seok and Jung Yeo-jin , along with cast members Bae In-hyuk , Roh Jeong-eui , and Park Seo-ham . The drama follows two men and women connected as in-laws whose relationship starts off awkwardly, only to find themselves unexpectedly living together while raising a 20-month-old nephew named Woo-joo.
Director Lee Hyeon-seok introduced the drama by saying, “When the child Woo-joo enters the story, the relationship between the two leads moves in completely unpredictable directions. Unlike typical romantic comedies, the child becomes the emotional center of the narrative. Woo-joo is the biggest charm of this drama.” He added, “It’s a cozy and delightful story that makes time fly by.”
Director Jung Yeo-jin emphasized the emotional message behind the series, stating, “In an era where it’s hard for young people to imagine dreams, love, or even children, this drama presents a story that’s worth dreaming about.” She continued, “It may feel like a fantasy, but we wanted it to resonate like a personal story. Even amid the exhaustion of childcare, there are clear moments of healing.”
Speaking about the cast, Jung praised Roh Jeong-eui , noting, “Despite her delicate image, she is very responsible and easygoing on set. That personality naturally blended into her character.” She also described Bae In-hyuk as “an actor you want to keep watching and supporting,” and Park Seo-ham as “the perfect embodiment of a first-love image.”
Bae In-hyuk plays Seon Tae-hyung, a photography assistant with a prickly exterior and hidden emotional scars. He explained, “At first, I questioned why the character was so irritable, but once I understood his background, I grew attached to him.” He added that viewers should focus on “how Tae-hyung gradually opens his heart after meeting Hyun-jin and Woo-joo.”
Roh Jeong-eui stars as Woo Hyun-jin, a job seeker filled with positive energy. She shared, “While I usually focus on the character, this time the presence of Woo-joo stood out the most.” She added, “This story isn’t only about giving love to a child, but also about portraying the emotions of a child who is receiving love.” Roh expressed her desire to depict realistic concerns that people her age can relate to.
Park Seo-ham takes on the role of Park Yoon-seong, a popular employee at a food company. He said, “I came across the script at a time when I really wanted to challenge myself with a romantic comedy.” He added, “The character is honest and confident about his feelings, and I spent a lot of time thinking about how to express that charm.”
Another key presence in Our Universe is child actor Park Yoo-ho , who plays Woo-joo. Director Lee described Woo-joo as “the element that sets this drama apart,” while the cast shared that filming with the child actor led to “many unpredictable yet joyful moments on set.”
Our Universe is scheduled to premiere on February 4 at 10:40 p.m. KST on tvN , marking Roh Jeong-eui ’s return to the spotlight with a lighter, more hopeful project following past disappointment.
