Actress Park Shin Hye delivered an emotional confession as she spoke about her family on the January 21 episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, bringing viewers to tears with her heartfelt honesty.

During the broadcast, host Yoo Jae Suk praised Park Shin Hye’s surprisingly impressive meat-grilling skills, recalling their previous meeting on Sixth Sense. He joked, “After eating the meat she grilled, I told people in the entertainment industry to never let just anyone grab the tongs. If Park Shin Hye is there, the grill belongs to her.” He added that he had never seen anyone grill meat so perfectly.
Park Shin Hye shared that after the episode aired, she received countless messages saying, “Let’s go eat meat together.” Yoo Jae Suk continued to compliment her, calling her skills “professional-level.”

Recently starring in Undercover Miss Hong, where she plays a character who disguises herself as a 20-year-old while working undercover, Park Shin Hye laughed about the challenges of perception. “Because I debuted so young, many people still remember what I looked like in my twenties. I worry comparison photos might start circulating,” she said. She added that even within the drama, lines like “Do you look old?” are frequently mentioned.
On set, Park Shin Hye is affectionately called “Teacher Park.” She explained, “Since I started acting as a child, things like blocking and eye lines feel natural to me. Younger actors can still be inexperienced. I didn’t have anyone to teach me back then, so I learned by going around and figuring things out myself.” As a result, she often helps guide younger actors while leading the set alongside the director.

Her leadership extends beyond filming. Park Shin Hye revealed that she personally organizes staff dinners to boost morale, even inviting cast and crew to her parents’ restaurant. “We prepared a nostalgic prize draw with everything from gum to tablet PCs and department store gift certificates,” she shared.
Now 24 years into her acting career, Park Shin Hye reflected on her early beginnings. She revealed that she entered the entertainment industry after being recommended by teachers at church. “At the time, my parents weren’t financially stable, so they were against it at first,” she said. “But since I really wanted it, my entire family packed up our life in Gwangju and moved to Seoul. We started out in a semi-basement apartment.”

She spoke with deep gratitude about her parents’ sacrifices. “My father drove a taxi, and my mother worked in insurance, served school lunches, and even cleaned bathrooms. She told me she never once felt ashamed,” Park Shin Hye recalled. “Even after I debuted, they kept working.”
The atmosphere turned emotional when Park Shin Hye revealed her father’s recent health diagnosis. Fighting back tears, she said, “My dad has always felt like Superman to me. But recently, he was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, and they also discovered a heart condition.” She continued, “It made me realize that the Superman I knew isn’t invincible. It’s terrifying because you never know when it might rupture.”
Her honest confession moved both the hosts and viewers, highlighting the actress’s deep love and gratitude for her family behind her long and successful career.
