Actress Park Min-young has unexpectedly found herself at the center of controversy after sharing behind-the-scenes details about filming a kiss scene with Wi Ha-joon. What began as a humorous anecdote on a variety show has since gone viral online, triggering heated debate over whether her remarks were simply playful or crossed the line into inappropriate territory.
On March 4, a video titled “Romance Masters Whose Special Skill Is Kissing Appear (Park Min Young, Wi Ha Joon, Kim Jung Hyun)” was uploaded to the YouTube channel “Zo Zazz.” In the video, Park Min Young and Wi Ha Joon, who are currently starring together in the tvN Monday–Tuesday drama Siren’s Kiss, appeared as guests and shared stories from behind the scenes of their filming experience.
During the conversation, Park Min Young brought up a kiss scene with Wi Ha Joon, who is five years younger than her. She joked that he did not have much experience with romance scenes. “He said he hadn’t done many romance projects before. There’s a kiss scene, and I think it was only his second or third one,” she said. “I’ve done quite a lot of romance dramas, so if it’s only the third time, that’s basically a newborn.” Hearing this, Wi Ha Joon laughed awkwardly.
She continued by recalling how she teased him on set. “I kept joking, ‘You’re a kiss newborn, a newborn.’ But then when the director called action, he suddenly came in and basically devoured my lips,” she said. Wi Ha Joon reacted with a laugh, saying, “What are you talking about?”

Park Min Young went on to explain that the scene required her to look surprised, but she ended up being genuinely startled. “I was supposed to look shocked in the scene, but I was actually shocked,” she said. “How can someone on their third kiss scene do it like that? At that level, it’s like suction.” Her remarks reportedly made everyone on set burst into laughter.
Even as Wi Ha Joon tried to wrap up the story by joking that he might star in a medical drama next, Park Min Young continued her playful commentary. “Ha Joon has very full lips and a relatively big mouth. If you watch the scene, you’ll understand. For a moment, my lips felt like they were being pulled all the way to my cheeks,” she added, continuing her candid storytelling.
However, after the clip circulated widely across online communities and social media, reactions quickly became divided. Some netizens criticized the remarks, saying they sounded inappropriate. Comments included reactions such as “Isn’t that sexual harassment?”, “Why use expressions like that in this day and age?”, “If a man had said this, it would have caused a huge controversy,” and “It’s uncomfortable to listen to.”

Others defended the actress, arguing that the comment was clearly meant as a joke in a variety show setting. Supporters wrote responses like “It’s just a playful story from a show,” “Calling someone a ‘kiss newborn’ is funny,” and “She just has a humorous way of speaking.”
As the clip continues to circulate, the incident has sparked ongoing debate online over the boundaries of humor and context in entertainment programs, with opinions sharply divided over whether the remark should be seen as lighthearted banter or something more problematic.
