Tensions are rising online after fans noticed a stark difference in media treatment between BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and BTS’s Jimin at Incheon Airport. What began as a standard celebrity arrival has escalated into a heated debate about favoritism in Korean media coverage.
On her return to South Korea, Jisoo was briefly filmed by Dispatch —only to have the camera quickly switch focus to Jimin, who arrived around the same time. While Jisoo politely greeted photographers, Dispatch’s livestream soon pivoted to Jimin and remained there for over an hour.
Only one outlet, Newsen, uploaded a 57-second video of Jisoo, while multiple other media outlets published extended footage of Jimin. Even the thumbnails, video formats, and broadcast effort starkly favored the BTS star.
This disparity didn’t go unnoticed. “Why is Jisoo being ignored in her own country?” one fan asked, while others accused Dispatch of blatant favoritism. Many netizens took to social media to express their frustration, with some calling it “a clear case of media bias.”
“She’s a global ambassador for Dior and a top visual of BLACKPINK—yet barely gets screen time?” another commented.
However, not all reactions were critical. Some users argued Jisoo might prefer staying low-profile to avoid media chaos and maintain her privacy. “Maybe she just wants to pass quietly without the crowd,” one post read.
Still, the overarching sentiment remains one of disappointment, especially considering Jisoo’s long-standing contributions to K-pop. Since debuting in 2016, she’s grown into a multifaceted star—singer, actress, fashion icon—with successful solo projects like Flower and Earthquake, and a leading role in Snowdrop (2021).
