Fans quickly came to his defense.
In December 2025, NCT’s leader Taeyong was discharged from the military, much to the joy of fans.
Since then, the idol has jumped right into activities, holding a concert in January and other solo performances. He has also joined group activities, openly discussing plans for the NCT 127’s next album.

The idol is also appearing in NCT 127 content again, including a recent video in which the members learned about their personal style from a professional and what would work best for them, fashion-wise, with this new information.
In one portion of the video, the members learn about different body types before being told what theirs is.
When the stylist tells them the most popular body shape is an hour glass, Taeyong remarks he’d want to be “anything but the pear shape.” She then tells them that is for curvy body types, while Johnny clarifies it is pear not stomach, while Taeyong questioned and was told it was not like Patrick Star from Spongebob Squarepants.
This moment was reposted online where some saw the clip and felt that Taeyong was body shaming and being misogynist based on a partial clip.
misogyny and bodyshaming in the new 127 color analysis content. idk if im too sensitive but he pissed me offfff pic.twitter.com/EdLZgtrWD0

However, many quickly came to his defense, giving the full context and saying that he was talking about his own body and it had nothing to do with women.
3k likes for this nothing burger coming from the biggest taeyong hater account. The colour analysis lady BROUGHT the charts to analyse their body type and colour suit. Taeyong said he doesn’t want a pear body for himself and all of sudden is labelled misogynistic pls log off https://t.co/sO9te7SzVx pic.twitter.com/Kuq3lxKTfd

maybe im missing something but they were literally talking about their own body type analysis, not judging women’s bodies. saying “i hope it’s not pear” sounded more like a preference about their own proportions. i get why body type talk can feel sensitive, but context matters… https://t.co/D7RtdyqR0J

taeyong was literally talking about his own body, he didn’t compare himself to anyone, it was a personal body analysis, y’all keep twisting his words without full context just to push your own narrative and then get upset by yourselves. https://t.co/RzxmLBBI8T pic.twitter.com/28vQKDJokp
