After School member and actress Nana’s home invasion case has reached a legal conclusion, with the court sentencing the intruder to seven years in prison while recognizing Nana and her mother’s actions as legitimate self-defense.
On June 9, the Criminal Division 1 of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court held the sentencing hearing for suspect A, who had been charged with robbery resulting in injury.
The court ruled that charges of robbery causing injury and bodily harm were valid and also acknowledged that Nana and her mother acted in self-defense during the incident, sentencing the defendant to seven years in prison.

At an earlier hearing, prosecutors had sought a 10-year prison sentence, arguing that “the severity of the crime is serious, the defendant has shown no remorse, and no settlement has been reached with the victims.”
Suspect A had been indicted and detained after allegedly breaking into Nana’s residence in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of November 15, 2025. Prosecutors said he threatened Nana and her mother with a weapon while attempting to steal money.
At the time of the incident, Nana and her mother reportedly subdued the intruder after a physical struggle and handed him over to police. Later, suspect A filed a counter-complaint accusing Nana of attempted murder, claiming he was injured while being restrained. However, police determined Nana’s actions constituted self-defense and declined to pursue charges. Nana subsequently countersued him for false accusation.

In his final statement, suspect A read from a prepared letter and said, “I apologize to the victims. I will never commit a crime again.” However, he denied ever stabbing or assaulting anyone.
During questioning, suspect A claimed he had not carried a knife into the house. He stated, “I was startled after encountering Nana’s mother. She told me to leave, and when I tried to calm the situation, saying I had only entered to steal items, she pushed me.” He further alleged that Nana’s mother threatened him with a knife and that he suffered injuries to his neck area.
He continued, “After being stabbed, I lost a lot of blood. I was also hit multiple times by Nana’s mother. I held onto the blade with both hands because I thought I would die if I let go. Eventually, the confrontation ended. I never committed violence. If hugging someone counts as assault, then I’ll admit to that.”
The defendant also explained his motive, saying his mother had suffered a brain hemorrhage and was hospitalized. He claimed financial struggles and an unpaid 10 million won fine from a previous case pushed him toward theft. According to him, Nana allegedly told him to say the knife belonged to him when speaking with police.

Suspect A insisted, “I admit I was wrong to trespass, but I never brought a knife, choked anyone, or assaulted anyone. I sincerely regret my actions.” He added that he had not known the victim was Nana until police informed him after the arrest.
Earlier, on April 21, Nana and her mother attended the third hearing as witnesses. Upon seeing the defendant in court, Nana reportedly expressed visible anger, saying, “Are you having fun? Is it fun going around committing robberies? Look me in the eyes.”
While testifying, Nana also opened up about the emotional aftermath of the case, admitting that the experience had left lasting trauma. “I thought I was okay after going through this, but without realizing it, it has remained like trauma in my life. I prayed this case would be resolved quickly,” she said.
After the hearing, Nana addressed fans through a communication platform, explaining that facing the defendant made her lose emotional control. She said she had no regrets about confronting him directly and reassured supporters that she was doing well.
Nana also shared a message on social media, writing that she hoped the perpetrator would “pay the price for all malicious crimes committed so far,” alongside the phrase “you reap what you sow.”
