In early May 2024, SNH48 member Shen Xiaoai shocked fans after posting a lengthy statement on Weibo revealing that she had been in a long-term romantic relationship with fellow member Lu Xinyi. According to Xiaoai, the two had dated for approximately two and a half years, but the relationship eventually fell apart after Lu Xinyi allegedly developed romantic feelings for another groupmate, Wang Yuchen.
Xiaoai stated that toward the end of their relationship, Lu Xinyi was involved in what she described as an emotional affair. She claimed that although their relationship was kept private, Lu Xinyi concealed it from Wang Yuchen while growing increasingly close to her under the pretense of work-related bonding.
The situation reportedly became more painful as Xiaoai watched the two interact closely in front of her chatting constantly, playing games late into the night, wearing matching accessories, and even appearing affectionate during live broadcasts. According to her account, tensions escalated into frequent arguments, eventually leading to the couple’s breakup. Xiaoai claimed that she uncovered chat records showing daily intimate conversations, travel plans, and shared experiences that mirrored activities Lu Xinyi had once promised her. She said this discovery left her feeling deceived and humiliated.
