Viewers of the Chinese drama “The Vendetta of An” were left laughing at a logic error in episode 6, where the protagonist’s assassination scene did not make sense.
According to QQ, Cheng Yi stars in his third TV series of the year with The Vendetta of An. Unlike his previous two fantasy projects, this series focuses on political revenge and investigation.

However, in episode 6, viewers noticed a major logic flaw. When the main character Xie Huai An (played by Cheng Yi) is suddenly attacked by Liu Zi Yun, his injury initially appears minor and treatable. But in the next scene, the wound shifts to a dangerous spot on the neck. Audiences pointed out that with ancient medical practices, surviving such an injury would be nearly impossible. Some defended the show, saying the protagonist’s resilience justifies it, but many insisted that the production should have been more meticulous.
The Vendetta of An follows Xie Huai An, a brilliant and strategic young man whose family is massacred. He spends 10 years in hiding, gradually climbing the political ladder to exact revenge. The series has been praised for its beautiful cinematography and layered storytelling, combining intrigue and schemes that keep viewers engaged.

Despite the engaging plot, Cheng Yi’s performance has received criticism. Observers note that his delivery is monotonous, with unclear enunciation and weak breath control, making it difficult for audiences to follow dialogue. Additionally, his expressions are inconsistent; in certain scenes, his portrayal of a loyal official appears distorted, losing the character’s intended integrity.
Fans hope future projects will see Cheng Yi deliver more nuanced performances and ensure production continuity to avoid similar logical inconsistencies.
