In a recent roundtable interview held at a café in Seoul’s Gangnam district, Kim Sejeong spoke openly about watching her former gugudan bandmate Mimi step into married life. Mimi, born in 1993, tied the knot in May 2024 with MBLAQ member Thunder, becoming the first married member of gugudan.
“I don’t think Mimi unnie is walking a completely different path from me,” Kim Sejeong shared. “Even after marriage, she continues to show her life to the public and receives love and support. She loves music, continues album activities, and got married too.”

Kim added that seeing Mimi balance marriage and career made her reflect on her own future. “I think someday I’ll walk the same path. Since she’s already taken those steps ahead of me, if I ever get married, I feel like I’ll ask her a lot,” she admitted with a smile.
Kim Sejeong recently wrapped up her role as Park Dal in MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama The Moon Flows Over Yi River. The historical fantasy romance, which revolves around a crown prince who has lost his laughter and a soul-swapped merchant, marked her first-ever sageuk role. Despite concerns over ratings pressure—especially after MBC’s string of underperforming dramas—the series ended on a high note, peaking at 6.8% viewership in its finale.

Since debuting in 2016 through Produce 101, where she placed second overall, Kim Sejeong has steadily built a diverse career across music and acting. From proving her leading actress potential in The Uncanny Counter to gaining global popularity with Business Proposal, she has continuously expanded her filmography. Her 2025 sageuk performance further cemented her growth as an actress.
Reflecting on her journey, Kim Sejeong grew introspective. “The past 10 years were spent trying to fill what I lacked. I wanted to grow and achieve so much that I sometimes missed loving what I already had,” she confessed.

She added that entering her 30s has shifted her mindset. “I realized there’s no such thing as perfection. Instead of focusing on what I’m missing, I want to focus on what makes me happy right now and live fully in the present.”
While she doesn’t regret the struggles of her past, Kim believes those experiences shaped who she is today. “Thanks to all the trials and errors, I’ve become stronger. From now on, I want to grow into someone who enjoys each moment with more ease and flexibility.”
As Kim Sejeong steps into her 30s, fans are eager to see not only her next artistic challenge, but also how her outlook on life—career, happiness, and even marriage—continues to evolve.
