On January 12, Kang Sung Yeon took to Instagram to write, “I’ve met someone who cares for and loves my children more than I do. We’re doing well and living happily together.” Her heartfelt post came alongside reflections on the emotional toll of being portrayed solely through the lens of “divorce” and “single mom” by the media.
She expressed discomfort with how her SNS, which has been a space to share moments from her family life and parenting journey, had been misrepresented: “Due to distorted articles, I was made into a lonely, sorrowful single mom. Raising children isn’t easy for anyone single or not. Physically it’s tough, but seeing my kids grow up bright and healthy gives me strength.”
Kang concluded with a gentle confession: “It snowed so beautifully today. After much thought and many drafts, I decided to share this sincere message from my heart.”

Kang Sung Yeon was previously married to jazz pianist Kim Ka On in 2012, but they divorced in 2023. She is now raising their two sons on her own.
Meanwhile, actor Lee Dong Gun, also a single parent, was caught up in dating rumors last year with actress Kang Hae Rim, who is 16 years his junior. The two were spotted together on multiple occasions, but both parties responded with ambiguity, stating that it was “difficult to confirm personal matters.”
As celebrities like Lee Sang Min, Kim Jun Ho, and Kim Na Young make headlines with remarriage announcements, the public has also turned its attention to the love lives of single moms and dads in the spotlight. From open declarations to cautious silence, these stars are choosing different paths in love after divorce.
