On January 15, Kang Eun Bi posted a video along with the message, “San-sam, I love you. Let’s meet again,” addressing the unborn child she had affectionately named. In the opening moments of the video, Kang is seen breaking down in tears as she tells her husband Byun Jun Pil, “I couldn’t protect our baby.” Byun Jun Pil responds through sobs, “You didn’t fail. Honestly, I don’t need a baby right now. I just want you to be okay. I just want you.”
Through the emotional video, Kang Eun Bi opened up about her miscarriage in detail. She revealed that she lost the baby on January 3. While doctors had initially reassured her that everything was normal, she was later told that her amniotic fluid levels were decreasing. During further examinations, doctors suspected that the amniotic fluid was leaking, and she was transferred to a higher-level hospital.

“All my tests had been normal, I could feel the baby moving well, and I had no fever or pain,” she explained. “I thought it was just fatigue from overworking. But after two days in the hospital, I was told my amniotic fluid level had dropped to zero.” Doctors suspected preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) and ordered absolute bed rest, inserting a catheter and monitoring her condition for several more days.
Despite these efforts, the amniotic fluid did not regenerate. Kang Eun Bi was then informed that pregnancy termination might need to be considered and was transferred to an even larger hospital. There, she received devastating news. “The baby was lying sideways, stuck tightly to the placenta. I was told the lungs could no longer develop and that the baby was barely holding on in such a small space,” she said. “Everything collapsed in that moment.”

Overwhelmed with guilt, Kang shared, “I blamed myself for being ignorant, for making my baby suffer. I had to make a decision. On the day I reached 21 weeks, I accepted that I had to let San-sam go.” She underwent induced labor, and the baby passed away immediately after being born.
Afterward, Kang made the painful decision to personally handle the funeral process. “I was discharged and went straight to the crematorium. I couldn’t bear the thought of sending the baby off alone on such a cold day. I just stood there, crying endlessly,” she shared, leaving many deeply moved.
Kang Eun Bi married her longtime partner Byun Jun Pil, a former ulzzang and her same-age companion, in April last year after 17 years of dating. In September of that same year, at the age of 40, she joyfully announced a natural pregnancy, with her due date set for May. Tragically, she lost her baby just five months into the pregnancy.
