On the November 29 episode of JTBC’s variety show Knowing Bros, god members Kim Tae Woo, Son Ho Young, and Danny Ahn opened up about the group’s iconic variety show days and some behind-the-scenes confessions that had the cast—and viewers—laughing and reminiscing.
Kim Tae Woo revealed that he is currently producing a new 7-member girl group set to debut in the second half of the year. “My eldest daughter is 13, and the trainees are around that age. As a parent, I feel a lot of responsibility. I really want to help these girls achieve their dreams,” he said sincerely.

However, fellow member Danny Ahn admitted, “To be honest, we hoped he wouldn’t go into producing.” Kim Tae Woo revealed, “Not once did they cheer me on. Even during the hardest times.”

Kang Ho Dong tried to console him, joking, “If your girl group becomes a hit, your members will regret not investing.” But Kim shot back playfully, “By then, I won’t even take their calls.”
The conversation shifted to god’s legendary debut and their 1st album title track “To My Mother”, a touching song about family rather than the rebellious themes popular among idols at the time. Producer Lee Sang Min, who was involved in its early stages, recalled, “When I heard god was debuting, I was nervous. But after listening to ‘To My Mother,’ I felt relieved. Not many people expected that song to succeed.”

One of god’s most defining moments was their appearance on the variety show Babysitting Diary, which skyrocketed their status to “nation’s idol.” Kang Ho Dong shared that the show was originally made for H.O.T., to which Kim Tae Woo confirmed, “Yes, it was initially created with H.O.T. in mind, but SM refused due to their strict mysterious image.”
Then came the punchline revelation: “Our manager, who was close with H.O.T., happened to be there when they declined. He immediately said, ‘We’ll appear even in our underwear!’” Danny Ahn chimed in, “Park Joon Hyung actually did show up in just his underwear once.”

When asked about the challenges of filming while raising kids, Son Ho Young shared, “It started as a one-time shoot, but once it became a regular program, it was tough. We were juggling more than ten schedules, with no breaks.”
What started as a rejected opportunity by SM Entertainment turned into a turning point for god, one that not only shaped their image but also left an indelible mark on Korean variety history.
