Acclaimed actor Jung Woo-sung has officially returned to the public eye following a year-long hiatus prompted by a highly publicized paternity controversy. He appeared on November 13 at the Disney+ original series Made in Korea press conference, held at the Cinderella Ballroom in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center, alongside director Woo Min-ho and co-stars Hyun Bin and Woo Do-hwan.

Last year, Jung made headlines when it was revealed he had fathered a child with model Moon Gabi outside of marriage. While he responded by vowing to “take full responsibility as a father,” the scandal triggered intense media scrutiny. In August, Jung legally married a longtime non-celebrity partner. Recently, Moon Gabi drew attention again by revealing their son on social media.

Speaking on his decision to take part in Made in Korea, Jung candidly shared: “When the director first approached me, I felt like the role wasn’t a good fit. I thought someone more daring would suit it better. But after reading the script, I wondered if there was something only I could bring to the role, and I decided to take the plunge.”

Woo Do-hwan cited director Woo Min-ho as the main reason for his involvement, while Hyun Bin praised the compelling script, describing it as “a powerful mix of fiction and real historical context set in the 1970s.” Jung Woo-sung emphasized the series’ unique angle compared to traditional historical dramas: “It explores human desire and survival through a fictional story based on historical facts. The way it portrays extreme loyalty to ambition really sets it apart.”
Made in Korea is slated to premiere on December 24 on Disney+. Set in the turbulent 1970s, it follows Baek Ki-tae, a man consumed by ambition for power and wealth, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young, who risks everything to stop him. Their confrontation becomes entangled in an era-defining incident.
