Comedian Jo Se-ho has officially denied allegations linking him to an alleged gang member and accepting high-priced gifts, following a series of accusations that circulated across social media earlier this week.
The controversy erupted after an Instagram account dedicated to receiving tips on criminal activity uploaded photos showing Jo Se-ho and a man identified as “Choi,” claimed to be a key figure in a violent organization operating in the Gyeongnam–Geochang area. The account alleged that Jo Se-ho had “regularly received expensive gifts under the excuse of being acquaintances and promoted a franchise run by a gang member.“

However, on December 4, A2Z Entertainment firmly refuted the allegations, stating that the claims were “groundless” and based on speculation. According to the agency, Jo Se-ho and Choi simply knew each other, and “the claims that he received luxury gifts are completely untrue.” The company added that it is currently preparing measures to protect its artist from defamation.
The Instagram accuser doubled down by posting additional photos on December 1 and repeatedly demanding Jo’s clarification. When previous posts were deleted, the account criticized Jo Se-ho’s side for “removing posts without providing an explanation.“

Choi, labeled in the posts as a criminal involved in illegal gambling operations and money laundering, was described as someone who allegedly converted illicit funds into legitimate businesses. The account insisted Jo Se-ho respond to the accusations, emphasizing that “gambling destroys society.“
Despite mounting public attention, A2Z Entertainment stressed that all accusations regarding Jo Se-ho benefiting from criminal ties were fabricated, and the entertainer has no involvement in illegal activity.
Jo Se-ho debuted in 2001 as part of SBS’s 6th-generation comedian class and has since become a household name, appearing on shows such as tvN’s You Quiz on the Block and KBS2 variety programs.
As the agency prepares a legal response, the situation continues to draw attention, with many awaiting whether further statements or evidence will surface.
