On November 2, Jo Kwon took to his social media to update fans about Gaga, his 12-year-old Italian Greyhound. “It felt like Gaga would be 1 year old forever,” he wrote, “but now she’s a senior, nearly blind in one eye, losing hearing, and her once brown fur is turning white.”
Despite her age, Gaga remained by his side—until recent signs of health deterioration became impossible to ignore. After a sudden weight loss and behavioral changes, Jo Kwon sought medical attention for Gaga. During the Chuseok holiday, a tumor was discovered in her small intestine. Though surgery successfully removed the mass, a biopsy confirmed the worst: adenocarcinoma , a form of small intestinal cancer.
“I had never heard of ‘jangseon-am’ before,” he confessed. “They told me it’s small intestinal cancer, and the prognosis isn’t good.”
The cancer’s rapid spread means Gaga is scheduled to begin chemotherapy soon. Jo Kwon, who is currently juggling a busy schedule including musical rehearsals, revealed his current daily routine revolves around Gaga’s care: feeding her, changing her pads, and simply being by her side.
“It breaks my heart, but I’m grateful for every moment I get to be with her,” he said. “She’s like an angel to me, and as her guardian, I’ll do everything I can.”
In his heartfelt message, Jo Kwon thanked fans who have supported Gaga over the years and asked for their prayers during this difficult time.
“Please send a little prayer for our angel Gaga,” he wrote, closing with a hopeful wish for an ordinary, uneventful day—a small but profound desire for peace.
