Japanese film director and actor Shinji Kasahara has announced his marriage to actress Ayumi Takamune, along with the news that the couple is already expecting their first child.
On October 30, Kasahara posted on his personal account: “I am pleased to report that Ayumi Takamune and I have married. Furthermore, a new life has come to us.”
He expressed gratitude to the many people who have supported them, and pledged to continue his work sincerely. According to the article, he wrote: “…We will not forget our gratitude, and will work hard going forward. We ask for your warm support.”

Ayumi Takamune also posted a heartfelt message on the same day: “I have news to share. Thank you always for your support. Inside me is a small life growing. Through many connections and miracles I have reached this moment. I never expected I’d be in such a position having given up on marriage and motherhood, I’m surprised myself.”
She added that since announcing the pregnancy the cast and crew at her current work site have been very considerate of her condition, and apologized that she will be stepping away from stage activities for a period due to maternity leave.
She concluded: “Thank you to everyone who cheered for us. As a woman, as a mother, as an actress, I will do my best to grow.”

Shinji Kasahara is known in Japan for his roles in tokusatsu series such as Mirai Sentai Timeranger and Kamen Rider, after which he transitioned into film directing. Ayumi Takamune belongs to the theater troupe “6bun-seed” and is active on the stage and musicals as well as appearing in dramas on NHK and TBS.
The announcement of their marriage and pregnancy comes as a surprise, particularly given the 19-year age difference between the two Kasahara at 51 and Takamune at 32 which has drawn much attention and congratulatory reaction from fans and media.
As the entertainment world awaits further details, the pair’s combined roles in film, stage and television mark this union as a notable one in Japanese entertainment culture.
