“I can’t believe this is a real song…”
BTS dropped their highly anticipated ARIRANG on March 20, marking their first full group release since their military service began. So far, reactions to the album have been mixed at best, with even longtime fans criticizing the lyrics, concept, and more.

ARIRANG was billed as an experimental evolution of BTS’s signature sound, blending Korean roots with modern production. However, some fans are voicing strong disappointment online about the production, mixing, sound quality, and excessive use of autotune.
They should have named the album autotune

The tracks sound more muffled compared to BTS’s previous solo and group releases, and at times, the music and vocal filters overpower BTS’s vocals.
After hearing golden with just jungkook voice without autotune then hearing arirang with heavy autotune just ruin everything.

many ppl who worked on both Golden and Arirang show that production alone can’t save a song if the artist isn’t talented. no matter how skilled these producers are, all they can do is rely on heavy autotune. just listen to both albums and you’ll clearly hear the difference

Fans say the processing creates an artificial, robotic layer that obscures individual voices, turning what should be a showcase of seven distinct tones into a homogenized wall of sound.

The main complaints boil down to the album feeling overprocessed, with heavy digital effects that bury the members’ signature vocals and make it hard to tell who’s singing.
the autotune was crazy couldnt even tell who is singing each song

Some fans pointed to “Into the Sun” as the prime example, of how vocal effects are negatively impacting their listening experience.
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS A REAL SONG 😭

14. Into the Sun: 4.5/10 — the autotune, the autotune, the autotune… this time it seems like it’s a stylistic choice (maybe because the mics are melting because of the song?), but it’s VERY irritating.
