This is the first time in nine years she has talked about it.
The year was 2016, when two female idols from two iconic second-generation girl groups, Jewelry’s Seo Inyoung and Brown Eyes Girls’ Ga In, were embroiled in a very public and televised beef with one another. And for the first time in almost a decade, fans have gotten an update on the current status of that conflict.

The feud sprouted during the filming of an MBC variety show, Radio Star, where the two idols appeared together in 2016. During the broadcast, Ga In shared an anecdote, recalling that Inyoung addressed her fellow Brown Eyed Girls member Narsha as “adorable” when they first met after their debut.

Inyoung chimed in, explaining, “Narsha was so polite and cute when she greeted me, so I thought she was younger than me.” Except, the issue was, Narsha was older than Inyoung, and that’s why Ga In didn’t like her speaking to Narsha in banmal (informal language).

Since Narsha is the oldest in our group and Inyoung unnie is younger than her, it kind of bothered me when she spoke to her using banmal. At first, I got a little annoyed.

Inyoung retorted sharply, on camera, “You got annoyed? Really?…So what?” Her tone sparked a major controversy, with people accusing her of being needlessly abrasive with Ga In.

Shortly after the broadcast, Inyoung took to social media to openly express her displeasure with Ga In, adding fuel to the fire.
Saying something like ‘I was annoyed’ while sitting right next to me didn’t feel appropriate, especially on a public broadcast, not in private…I also don’t understand why she brought up an issue from years ago that she already resolved with Narsha. I was surprised to hear her say she was annoyed with a senior, especially when she wasn’t even directly involved.

The singer also added, “Ga In was really different before filming and after we started recording, and I couldn’t quite adjust to her style.”
The feud ended with this post, with neither of the idols addressing this issue again. It wasn’t until recently, during a social media live broadcast, that Seo Inyoung talked about it for the first time in nine years.

During the livestream, several fans asked her about her current relationship with Ga In, and Inyoung responded that the two were “on good terms.” She also reflected on her own fault back then, admitting, “I think I was a bit too rash and not very senior-like back then, and there were also parts where I got hurt, too.”
She also revealed that they had eventually talked out the problem. “We’re on friendly terms now. Let’s not make this an issue anymore,” she added.
When other fans grew curious about what exactly had happened between the two idols, Inyoung quickly jumped in, saying it was not a big deal, and playfully teasing them, saying, “I’ll tell the full story on YouTube later.”
