Fans of BTS are expressing frustration after a surprising reveal about the group’s upcoming release, with many accusing HYBE of mishandling Suga’s work.
The controversy centers around BTS’s latest album ARIRANG, which is set to drop a deluxe vinyl version on April 3. While special editions are common in K-pop, this version includes a hidden track—a detail that initially excited fans but quickly turned into a point of contention.

During an April 1 live broadcast, BTS members revealed that the hidden track was produced by Suga. According to the group, Suga himself had been unaware of the song’s placement, admitting he was initially “upset” that his track did not make the final album lineup. It reportedly took him two weeks to discover that his work had been included as a hidden vinyl-exclusive track.
This revelation triggered immediate backlash among fans, who criticized BIGHIT MUSIC and HYBE for limiting access to Suga’s production. Many argued that placing the track exclusively on a physical vinyl release makes it inaccessible to a large portion of the global fandom, especially those who rely on streaming platforms.

Online discussions quickly escalated, with some fans accusing the company of turning Suga’s work into a “cash grab” by restricting it to a premium format. Others expressed disappointment that a track produced by one of BTS’s core members would not receive wider recognition.
Adding to the debate, Suga commented that he thought the song might become “the second Take Two.” While international fans interpreted this as a reference to the song’s style, many Korean netizens believed he was hinting that the track could go relatively unnoticed—similar to how Take Two was perceived by some audiences.
Despite the controversy, ARIRANG continues to achieve major milestones, including securing a rare “Global All Kill.” However, the situation has once again highlighted ongoing tensions between fan expectations and company strategies in the K-pop industry, particularly when it comes to content accessibility and artist recognition.
