On February 8, Hong Jin Kyung took to social media and wrote, “#KimRaelRealLife #BeforeEditing #AfterEditing #FakeLife Rael, isn’t this basically fraud at this point?!”
She then shared a private conversation with an acquaintance who asked, “Did you see Rael’s photos going around on Instagram?” Hong Jin Kyung replied, “Yeah, I saw them. She’s driving me crazy,” before bluntly revealing, “They’re all edited.”

Hong Jin Kyung went on to explain that there seems to be an app that reshapes the face, sharpens the jawline, raises the nose bridge, and applies makeup automatically. She joked, saying the result made Rael look like a Chinese beauty icon, adding that she initially thought it was actress Fan Bingbing. Along with this, she posted photos showing Rael before editing.
Continuing the playful tone, Hong Jin Kyung wrote, “Why don’t you come join your mom and experience a ‘fake life’ together?” She added that she would later repost the conversation with Rael after getting her daughter’s consent.

When science YouTuber Orbit commented, asking whether Rael had agreed to the post, Hong Jin Kyung replied honestly, saying she had not. She joked that the situation felt so serious she posted it anyway, adding that she had somehow become “a mom who shaved her underage daughter’s jawline.”
Previously, Rael’s latest photos had circulated widely across online communities and social media. The images, which showed her with striking visuals reminiscent of a Chinese beauty, quickly went viral and sparked widespread discussion.
