According to an exclusive report by IZE on February 23, Chancellor was arrested in the early hours of the day at a hotel in Nagoya City, Japan. He was taken into custody by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of violating Japan’s Narcotics Control Act. Three acquaintances were reportedly arrested alongside him.

Chancellor is widely recognized not only as a solo artist but also as a producer who has worked on albums for artists including Yuju and Kang Daniel. He is also affiliated with XGALX, the company behind girl group XG.

Earlier, news broke that Simon—former member of boy group Dalmatian and current producer of Japanese girl group XG—had been urgently arrested in Japan for alleged drug possession. It has now been confirmed that Chancellor was one of the individuals apprehended at the scene together with Simon.

According to TBS, police had received an anonymous tip related to suspected cocaine and marijuana use and had been conducting an internal investigation for approximately one year. The arrest reportedly took place at a hotel in Nagoya, where XG was holding a concert.
Fuji TV further reported that after attending XG’s tour performance on the night of February 22, the individuals were subjected to a police search of their hotel room. Authorities allegedly seized four packets of cocaine and one packet of dried marijuana from the premises.

In addition to Chancellor and Simon, two employees from major Japanese entertainment agency Avex were reportedly arrested at the scene.
Chancellor, who was selected as the first Korean vocalist for the Grammy “ReImagined” series, married a younger flight attendant in 2022 and welcomed a daughter last year.
As of now, no official statement has been released by Chancellor’s agency regarding the arrest.
