Han Ji Hye has recently drawn attention after opening up about a frightening personal experience in which she nearly became a victim of a phone scam, shedding light on the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by fraudsters today.
During a broadcast aired on March 19, the actress appeared as a guest alongside Shin So Yul and Arin. The episode centered around a real-life case involving a 28-year-old victim who was manipulated through a phone scam for over 11 hours, ultimately leading to a tragic outcome.

What surprised viewers most was Han Ji Hye’s candid confession: “I was almost scammed too.” She recalled receiving a call claiming that her identity had been linked to a criminal case. “I instinctively reacted like, ‘My identity?’ and almost believed what they were saying,” she shared. Although she avoided financial loss, the actress admitted she did not immediately recognize the situation as a scam.
Her story highlights just how convincing modern fraud schemes have become, often using personal information and carefully crafted scenarios to exploit victims’ fears and confusion.

The program also revisited a heartbreaking case from 2020, where a young man was deceived by someone impersonating a prosecutor. Over the course of 11 hours, he was pressured into believing his bank account was tied to criminal activity. In a desperate attempt to prove his innocence, he transferred money as instructed. Tragically, the psychological manipulation drove him into despair, ultimately resulting in him taking his own life.
The emotional weight of the story deeply affected the guests. Shin So Yul was visibly shaken, while Arin tearfully remarked, “This is murder.” The atmosphere grew even heavier when the victim’s final letter was read aloud, bringing Shin So Yul to tears.
Adding to the shock, the show demonstrated AI technology capable of replicating human voices with near-perfect accuracy. Hearing an AI-generated version of her own voice, Shin So Yul admitted it was “terrifying,” underscoring how advanced technology is now being weaponized in scams.
Through Han Ji Hye’s personal account and the real-life case presented, the program delivers a strong warning about the dangers of high-tech fraud. It also serves as a reminder for the public to remain vigilant and cautious when faced with suspicious calls or requests.
