On November 13, a new video titled “Three Foreign Married Men Sneak a Peek at Han Go Eun’s Beauty Without Their Korean Wives Knowing” was uploaded to her YouTube channel “Go Eun Unnie Han Go Eun.” The video featured a humorous and honest conversation, during which Han Go Eun recalled her early years in the industry and her introduction to soju.

“I started drinking early, but I had soju for the first time in Korea,” she said. “After filming ended, the director offered me a drink. I was young and didn’t know how to refuse, so I just accepted. Turns out, I drank seven bottles of soju.”
Despite the extreme amount, Han laughed, “Luckily, I didn’t die. I even walked out on my own. The last thing I remember is jumping into a Carnival van. Then I was down for three days straight. I haven’t touched soju since.”

Still, she admitted, “There are times when I do drink. Sometimes soju actually tastes sweet. But now I’ve learned how to say no. Things are much better now—no one really pressures others to drink anymore. Back in my day, we had to accommodate the older generation. It’s definitely changed.”
Her guest, Tumul from India, also shared a funny yet painful drinking story: “In some parts of India, alcohol isn’t sold at all. I had my first drink in Korea at 29—it was makgeolli. Everyone kept shouting ‘one shot! one shot!’ and it tasted so good I kept drinking. The next day, I ended up in the hospital. My stomach was fine, but I had a terrible headache. I asked the doctor, ‘Why does my head hurt?’” he laughed.

Han Go Eun’s raw and humorous storytelling offered a glimpse into the evolving drinking culture in Korean entertainment—one that has shifted from pressure-filled norms to a more respectful, choice-driven atmosphere.
