He submitted an appeal through his legal representatives, challenging the sentence in the second trial. The two accomplices facing the exact charges have also reportedly filed appeals.
Taeil and the accomplices are accused of sexually assaulting a Chinese female tourist, “A,” who was intoxicated around 4 AM KST on June 13 last year.

Taeil, awaiting trial without detention, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in the first trial in July.
In the subsequent appeal, he was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, the same sentence as the first trial. The court also ordered him to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and imposed a five-year ban on employment at institutions related to children, youth, and the disabled.
Taeil, who received the same sentence as the first trial, appealed the decision to the Supreme Court. In criminal trials, an appeal must be filed within seven days of sentencing to receive a new court ruling.
All eyes are on what kind of sentence Taeil will receive.
