She’s had some interesting experiences.
Recently, a former tour manager and translator shared some surprising recollections from her time working with K-Pop idols.
A TikToker named Sara Kim (@sarak1m) shared a video on her account in which she explained that she worked in the K-pop industry a few years ago, included proof shots, and shared some of her personal experiences.
She started off strong, sharing that one idol refused to wash his face or brush his teeth unless it was a specific brand of water, Volvic. Volvic is a French brand of natural mineral water sourced from the Auvergne volcanoes, and it costs $ 59 for a 24-pack of 500 mL bottles (about $ 2.50 per bottle after taxes, vs. 20 cents per bottle for name-brand spring water) on Amazon.
Sara then spoke briefly about experiences with others involved with tours, particularly a company’s CEO and top executives. She shared that these officials brought their entire family to KCON LA, and that she and her team had to babysit the CEO’s daughter and take her to an amusement park.
She also mentioned that she was told by one artist’s management that if they ever ran into the idols in the hotel hallway, to look at the floor, or they would be fired, and that even glancing at the stage during rehearsals would have the same result.
One artist that she translated for was upset that she didn’t translate her squeals and screams, while a male artist, texting one of the girls she was managing, asked the girl to come to his room at around 1 A.M. Sara also shared that an artist manager spent two years hitting on her and tried to forcibly kiss her on their second tour together.
In the video’s comments, viewers shared their own experiences and affirmed that they had had similar experiences.
