They were close friends.
The close friend of an actress who passed away earlier this year has responded the the claims about her so-called “cremation necklace”.
In February 2025, 48-year-old Taiwanese star Barbie Hsu passed away from influenza-related pneumonia while holidaying in Japan. At a recent show, American singer Christine Fan performed her song “Can I Not Be Brave,” which some interpreted as a tribute to Hsu.

During the show, Fan wore a heart-shaped necklace that was rumored to contain Hsu’s ashes. Soon after, the rumors became headlines after Taiwanese media outlets covered the story.

The Beijing Zaishi Law Firm, representing Fan’s agency, has now released an official statement about the matter. The rumors are completely false, and according to Beijing Zaishi Law Firm, the Taiwanese news reports have “caused serious damage to Christine’s reputation.”

Legal action will be taken on Fan’s behalf to combat the spread of damaging, false information.
Any behaviour that seeks attention through false information and crosses moral or legal lines will bear consequences. We will continue to monitor developments and take all necessary legal measures to protect our client’s rights.
