Chinese actress Zhao Yingzi, who has recently shifted her focus to e-commerce through livestream sales, first drew attention during a broadcast on January 20. While introducing products, Zhao Yingzi abruptly stopped after noticing that the display area behind her was messy and that staff members were gathered chatting instead of working.
She openly expressed her frustration on-air, criticizing the team for being unfocused and failing to fulfill their responsibilities. Raising her voice, Zhao Yingzi complained that staff members were receiving relatively high salaries but demonstrated a poor work attitude.

According to China Times, the actress again appeared to lose control during a subsequent livestream. In that broadcast, her assistant reportedly arrived nearly an hour late. When the assistant explained that the delay was due to a personal visit from a friend, Zhao Yingzi became visibly angry.
She slammed her hand on the table and questioned the assistant’s professionalism, stating that she had stayed up all night preparing for the livestream. In front of thousands of viewers, Zhao Yingzi criticized the assistant for failing to meet expectations, emphasizing that the entire team had invested significant time, effort, and financial resources into the broadcast.
At the height of the incident, Zhao Yingzi directly shared her emotions with viewers, saying she did not want to get angry because stress could negatively affect her health. However, she admitted that it was difficult to control her emotions when work kept being disrupted.

After clips of the livestream spread online, public opinion quickly became divided. Many viewers criticized Zhao Yingzi, arguing that publicly scolding employees in front of the camera was inappropriate and reflected poor management skills that could emotionally harm staff. Some commenters suggested that the actress may have intentionally stirred controversy to attract attention. Others, however, defended her actions, stating that arriving late to work and lacking focus during working hours were unacceptable behaviors, especially in a high-discipline environment such as livestream commerce.
Most recently, Zhao Yingzi caused public debate after claiming she and actor Jiang Yi had engaged in a “three-day trial marriage,” during which they became engaged, married, and divorced within three days. She compared the relationship to “trying on a mask before buying it—if it doesn’t fit, you simply tear it off,” a remark that immediately stirred widespread discussion.
